Maya-Bear

My youngest daughter, Maya, is a little on the adorable hefty side :) She's my twin, really. But I like to refer to her as Maya-Bear  for a pet name since she so tiny and equally squishy. Then I remembered the pink teddy bear jacket I had bought at the Goodwill last winter and knew it was meant to be.

Tis the Season...

...for DIY projects! I came across this one day skimming the web and fell in love. I thought it looked incredibly easy and couldn't wait to dive into it. Let me warn you, this is not as easy as you may think. I actually owe a lot of the credit to my Husband, as he basically did the entire project with me. But, the end result is beautiful and I can happily confess, this only cost me about $10 to make :)

... glass balls will shatter upon impact, pleaseeee make certain if you attempt this to purchase plastic ornaments! (Also... having a man present to bend the end of the hanger with a multi tool and  hold the wreath while you adjust the placement of the decorations make this project a LOT less stressful. ;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS LOVES!!!!!!!!!!

Saying, "Let's Get Together and Feel Alright..."

Chances are, if you recognize the man in this painting, then I have nothing further to say. You could probably throw me a line or two about his influences on culture, or simply sing me lyrics from your favorite track. His Reggae spin keeps me balanced on the days I feel uptight and he reminds me of all the inner peace instilled within me. To date, this is my most prized work. I'd love to keep it, but selling it and influencing someone else is yet, even more rewarding.

Coffee like it's fine wine, wine like it's water...

Late night this:

...leads to early morning this!:

and reminds me of Jason Myles Goss' "Coffee and Wine."

"Coffee in the morning and wine at night
If I have coffee and wine everything is alright

Oh it was just a little bluebird swinging on a vine
Won't you listen to that bluebird singing so fine

Oh give me coffee in the morning and wine at night
It's just that coffee and wine make my days so bright

But sometimes you wake up with a case of the blues
And all these gray skies make you get your hours confused

And then it's wine in the morning and coffee at night
Oh darling keep filling my cup until the morning light

Oh won't you listen to that bluebird, still swinging on that vine
Singing day and night, keeping my head so light all the time

So, give me coffee, no pour me some wine
Something to keep me feeling right
Oh darling, keep filling my cup until the morning...
Keep on filling my cup until the morning...

Keep on filling my cup until the morning light"

:)

Tell Me A Story

I feel that the more you create for your home, the better story it tells. My Husband and I have been living in our house for over a year now and had been starring at a long blue wall for what felt like forever. I would fall in love with a piece, he would hate it. He would present an idea, I would be repulsed. Eventually, we got so burnt out, we just stopped searching all together. That's when it occurred to me to let our lives be the artwork. Now, I'm a sucker for all things black and white; homes, clothes, photos... you name it. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that my living room "art" is exactly that: my framed black and white photography. It's classic, simple and tells our story. Finally, we are both completely in love (with the art that is ;)).

Different People Feel Beauty in Different Things

The older I get, the more I am aware that I view the world from a different perspective. I find beauty in random, everyday objects that might seem dull and mute to the next person. So, I took a few hours today and decided to capture a view of the beautiful prizes that are frequently taken for granted in my area of the world.
Enjoy :)
